What outbound agents do
An outbound agent introduces itself, says why it is calling and works through the questions you have given it. When the conversation is worth a person's time, it transfers the call while the contact is still on the line.
- Qualifying new leads with the questions your web form asks.
- Booking confirmations and reminders, ringing the ones that go quiet.
- Renewals and follow-ups when a policy is about to lapse or a quote has gone cold.
Voicemail and phone menus
Most outbound dials do not reach a person at once. Dialgem detects an answering machine by fusing an audio heuristic with a hint from the transcriber, then either hangs up or leaves a message in the agent's own voice. If the call reaches a phone menu, the agent can press the digits it asks for.
Control over the dial
Each number has its own outbound agent, and the ring timeout is set in the agent's configuration rather than left to the carrier default. Status callbacks tell your systems how every call ended.
Responsible calling
You are responsible for who you call and for obtaining any consent the law requires. Read our acceptable-use policy and the call recording and consent page before you start a campaign.
Cost
Outbound calls are billed per connected minute at $0.045 to $0.135 per connected minute, depending on the voice, model and line you choose. Unanswered and failed calls are not billed.
Questions
- Does a voicemail count as a billable minute?
- Billing runs on connected time. If the agent leaves a message, that connected time is billed; unanswered and failed calls are not.
- Can I call from my own number?
- Yes, through your own SIP trunk. Calls on your own trunk carry no Dialgem line charge.
- Can I trigger calls from my own software?
- Yes. Outbound calls can be started through the API and the TypeScript SDK, @dialgem/sdk.
