Use case

An AI receptionist that picks up on the first ring.

Point a phone number at a Dialgem agent and it answers every call: it works out what the caller needs, deals with what it can, and hands over what it cannot, with the context so nobody starts again from the top.

The calls it takes

Most inbound calls are a small set of repeating questions: opening hours, where an order is, whether someone can book a time, who to speak to. An AI receptionist answers these straight away, at any hour, without a queue.

  • Front-line support: identify the request, solve what it can, escalate the rest.
  • Order status: look the order up in your systems during the call rather than reading from a document.
  • After-hours cover: pick up the calls that currently go to voicemail and book the rest into the morning.

Handing over to a person

Some calls should reach a human. The agent can transfer the call cold, dialling the target and stepping aside, or warm, staying on the line to brief the person before connecting the caller. Ring duration, extension digits, hold music and the wording of the handover are set per agent.

It stops when the caller speaks

Callers cut in, correct themselves and talk over the greeting. The agent stops mid-sentence when it is interrupted and listens, which is what makes the call feel like a conversation rather than a recording.

What you keep afterwards

Every call can be recorded and played back through signed links, with a transcript and structured data extracted after the call, so you can see what was asked and what the agent did. You can test the agent from your browser before connecting a number.

Cost

Inbound calls on a Dialgem line are billed per connected minute, $0.045 to $0.135 per connected minute across the voice and model choices, with nothing charged while the agent waits for the phone to ring.

Questions

Will callers know it is an AI?
That is your call to make: the agent's greeting and instructions are yours to write. Some places require disclosure, and our call recording and acceptable-use pages describe your obligations.
What happens when it cannot answer something?
You decide. It can transfer to a person, cold or warm, or take the details and end the call.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
If your carrier supports SIP, you can point your existing number at Dialgem through your own trunk.
